4 Fun Art classes and workshops in Malaysia! (Calligraphy, Bookbinding, Silkscreen, Watercolour)

I personally have went through at least one of their class from each of these places so I can say with conviction that these classes are worth it and something fun yet different to do! ;)

KLigraphy is founded by 2 calligraphy and lettering geeks who aim to spread the love for the art of beautiful writing throughout Malaysia. Since 2015, they frequently hold workshops once a month as well as provide custom calligraphy needs and on-site calligraphy services for events.

Their classes are in a big yet a comfortable size. The two calligraphers, Jil and Inez, would sometimes break us into groups to demonstrate how to write and later they'll go around to see if anyone needs extra help. They broke down the steps well and their notes are also very helpful! I also love how they provided extra calligraphy sketch pads!

In their journey of selling dreams and aspiration, they hold watercolour and calligraphy workshops almost every week. Their classes are also in a comfortable big group. Their teachers are also friendly and will go around to see if you're doing okay or have any other questions.

Raksasa Print is an artist run silkscreen studio which aims to share their knowledge and love for art. They also provide affordable and accessible printmaking facilities and services.

The class is very much one on one. The first class was more like an introductory. They teach you on the equipment and materials needed for silkscreen printing as well as explain types of printing and gives examples so you can have a better picture why silkscreen and its benefits. Then second class is where you practice on the printing and cleaning of equipment on your own with supervision ;)

My teacher, Jane, was very helpful and patient with me (I kept making errors on our second class xD). She was very friendly and happy to answer any questions I had on silkscreen printing.

Classes: Silkscreen course & Refresher class*

4. LittleSyam

Little Syam is owned by a freelance Graphic Designer known as Syam. Her main business is on her Etsy site which sell her handmade books and journal. Occasionally, she holds bookbinding workshops at her craft store,

She doesn't have classes as often (and when I went to her classes wasn't very big but intimate in a good way) but you can sometimes find her collaborating with other workshops like with Kinokunya, SaltxPaper, etc. You can keep a look out on her workshop by following her on her blog or Instagram ;) She also sells some materials at her store so you can buy your bookbinding needs. She's a very sweet, friendly lady and is happy to share her knowledge on crafting.

Classes: Bookbinding

Duration: 3.5 hours (Saturdays & Sundays)
