Massage Review: Urban Retreat at Curve

Actually, this isn't the first time that I've been here. But this time, I've decided to do a review to give others (who might be interested) a look on how it's like at Urban Retreat. I remembered the first time I tried the place was because they they won a lot awards for their massages and it was convenient to get there.

Prices
It's not something you can do every week (well... not me... I save if for those special occasions to treat myself) but definitely worth your money! I find it hard to find all the prices for their massages so am posting it here for y'all to refer ;P

My Lymphatic Detox Massage Experience

A few days before, I called them up for my appointment on Saturday. I don't recommend on the spot booking because you might not be able to get the timing you want (happened to me before..). On that Saturday morning, they actually called me up to check whether I'll be coming in later (which I, of course, excitedly said yes :D). So, my boyfriend and I went to their Curve outlet.

We entered the main entrance and was greeted with a soothing environment, water fountain sounds (there was literally a mini fountain at the entrance) and a hint of lemongrass smell. There, I informed the receptionist on our booking and settled the payment earlier cause we la lazy to think about it later. She was quite friendly and cheerful (which is always a plus!). She asked us to wait for a moment and we chilled at the super comfy sofa.

After a while, a masseuse greeted us and directed us outside. If you're going to the Curve's outlet, they actually have another section right next to the main outlet. And man, did they totally revamped the other section. Shows I haven't been here for a while... I prefer the old design but the new one definitely gives more privacy and with this being the haze season, I'm all for indoors.

Le inside...

Before going for our massage, they prepared some slippers for us and gave us a warm foot scrub.

While going to my massage room, the interior design was amazing! It gave this Balinese (or maybe Thai..?) feeling and the dimmed lights gives off a mysterious undertone.

The door for your room is a curtain but gives enough privacy. She first directs me to my room and shows me all my massage items. You'll get a shower cap, a disposable underwear and a towel to cover yourself. If you're feeling shy, be rest assured she'll cover your whole body with the towel the whole time and will only lift the towel for the parts she's massaging.

What I thought was really convenient was that they provided a locker area to store your valuables (I kept my keys under my pillow or just next to me). They also had a hanger to hang your clothes. So after she showed me around, she gave me some time to undress and keep my things. She'll ask you whether you're ready before coming in.

The Lymphatic Detox Massage was different that the usual massage that I was used to. I would usually go for the Thai or Aromatherapy massage. So, I'm pretty use to the pulling and stretching of mah limbs. But the Lymphatic massage focused more on pressing your pressure points and not really pulling your limbs off (though the pain from Thai massage are so satisfying lol). For example, she'll press on some points on your knee but she'll still do the normal oil massage on your body.

My masseuse started massaging me from my legs up and even massaged my face. They start from the front and later, they'll massage your back. The face massage felt really good and she'll massage your scalp as well. The weirdest and ticklish part for me is when she pressed the point where you're leg attaches to your body. Couldn't stop laughing... lol.

After massaging, she'll wipe off all the excess oil off your body and will warn you beforehand that the towel is hot. Once I've finished changing, she prepared my slippers outside with a nice cup of hot ginger tea.

There's my hot cup of tea and my boyfriend's shoes.

So, we chilled with our tea for a while and our masseuse was nice enough to offer to help take a picture for both of us.

Even though it's not as satisfying as a Thai massage, it really made me feel better and lighter! So with this being my third time there, it's definitely a thumbs up for me ;) I'm hoping to try the Swedish Thai massage next time.
